A Joyful First Family Session

Some family sessions just have a spark from the very beginning. From the moment I met Kynleigh, Dalton, and their two sweet girls, I knew this one was going to be special.

When Kynleigh filled out her presession questionnaire, she described their daughters perfectly: full of attitude, giggles, and love… and definitely giving mom and dad a run for their money. She told me how much the girls love being outside and letting their imaginations run wild—playing with baby dolls, jumping on the trampoline, riding their cars, swinging, and exploring the world around them.

And the best part? This session would be their very first family photos together.

They were hoping to find one photographer who could grow with their family through the years. Hearing that always means so much to me, because those long-term relationships are one of the most beautiful parts of what I get to do.

The First Meeting

When I arrived, Kynleigh was already getting the girls ready in the parking lot, with outfit choices neatly laid out in the trunk so we could decide together what would photograph best. It was such a thoughtful touch, and it showed how excited she was for this moment.

The girls were already full of giggles, and Dalton had just as much enthusiasm as they did—which isn’t something you always see from dads at the start of a photo session! From the very beginning, this family brought so much warmth and energy.

As we walked to the photo spot together, we talked and laughed, and it immediately felt like we had known each other longer than just a few minutes. That instant connection always makes sessions feel relaxed and natural.

Pure Childhood Joy

Once we started taking photos, the session quickly turned into a joyful whirlwind.

The girls ran through the grass, held hands, giggled nonstop, and showed off their sweet personalities in the most authentic way. There was so much movement, laughter, and playful chaos—in the absolute best way.

Those are the moments I love most during family sessions. Kids being kids. Running, laughing, exploring, and letting their joy lead the way.

Watching their parents interact with them was just as beautiful. You could see how much love filled this family. The girls lit up around their mom and dad, and Kynleigh and Dalton embraced every silly, sweet moment.

I found myself smiling the entire session because their happiness was completely contagious.

Golden Light and Sweet Moments

As the sun began to dip lower in the sky, the warm light wrapped around their family and created such a dreamy atmosphere. The girls played, twirled, and even shared a few sweet sister moments.

It was the kind of evening that reminds you how quickly childhood passes and how important it is to capture these seasons while they’re happening.

A Moment That Stood Out

But the moment that truly stayed with me happened right at the end of the session.

Dalton asked if we could take one more photo—just of him and Kynleigh together.

If you photograph families often, you know that sometimes dads are ready to head home the second the photos are finished. But this time was different.

He wanted just one more quiet moment with the woman he loves.

Watching them laugh together and hold each other in the golden light was such a powerful reminder of what family photography is really about. Behind every joyful, chaotic, giggle-filled household is a love story that started it all.

That moment honestly blew me away.

A Family Full of Love

This session was full of laughter, movement, imagination, and so much genuine love. This family’s connection with each other was beautiful to witness, and it made every moment behind the camera feel incredibly special.

Sessions like this are why I love what I do.

Kynleigh mentioned hoping to find a photographer who could capture their family as they grow—and I truly hope I get the honor of doing exactly that.
