An Evening of Adventure: Erika & Lucas
Mar 12 2026 | By: Junolia Studios
Some sessions feel less like a photoshoot and more like stepping into a little storybook adventure. Erika and her seven-year-old son Lucas brought exactly that kind of magic to their session.
When Erika filled out her pre-session questionnaire, she shared something that many parents can relate to. Since Lucas was born, she’s taken “a million photos” of him, but hardly any of the two of them together. Aside from selfies or asking a stranger for help, capturing those moments just hasn’t happened very often.
And yet, those moments — the ones where you’re together, laughing, hugging, being silly — are the ones that matter most.
She wanted a few photos to hang on the wall in their living room. Simple, meaningful reminders of this season of life.
And this season? It’s full of personality.
Lucas arrived ready for an adventure. From the moment we started, he was pretending to be an eagle soaring through the sky, searching for chameleons, and discovering magical ants hiding in the grass. Every few minutes there was a new story unfolding, and honestly, it made the entire evening so much fun.
Erika mentioned Lucas doesn’t love looking at the camera, but the best part is… he didn’t have to. The magic of childhood lives in those in-between moments anyway — the giggles, the exploring, the cuddles with mom when the adventure pauses for a minute.
Their connection was effortless. You could see it in the way Lucas leaned into his mom, the way Erika watched him with that proud, loving smile only a parent has.
The evening sky gave us soft clouds instead of that golden sunset glow we often hope for. But Lucas’s bright smile lit up the whole field anyway. Sometimes the best light doesn’t come from the sky — it comes from the joy in front of the camera.
Between silly poses, quiet hugs, and a few sweet kisses for mom, we captured exactly what Erika was hoping for: memories of the two of them together in this chapter of life.
The kind of photos that will hang on a wall now… and years from now remind them of a seven-year-old boy who believed eagles, chameleons, and magical ants might all be part of one very special evening.
Erika and Lucas, thank you for bringing your adventure with you. I loved every second of it.
